Dymon Technologies has been at the forefront of porous pavement technology for more than a decade. Dymon developed and patented one of the earliest successful porous pavement technologies, and developed many products for the urban water industry. Dymon marketed these products under the brand Permapave.
Since commercializing Permapave, Dymon Technologies has closely monitored success and acceptance of porous pavement products, and in particular its own Permapave brand. Analysis shows legislation worldwide increasingly requires installation of porous pavements in urban environments, and increasingly porous pavements are installed as solutions to urban water problems. However, use and acceptance of porous pavement technologies has been restricted by high costs and unreliable technologies.
Research shows that if porous pavement products such as porous pavers were about the same price as ordinary masonry pavers, the use of the porous products would increase far more quickly.
Initially porous concrete was popular, partly due to its lower pricing, but also partly due to the marketing power of large concrete companies. However, continuous reports of failure of porous concrete installations – principally due to clogging – have reduced market confidence in porous concrete.
In response, Dymon Technologies developed the Dymon Porous Pave technology, which addresses all problems and disadvantages of the current porous pavement products – cost, strength, and reliability.
Dymon’s Permapave products had two major advantages in the marketplace – porosity and ease of cleaning when blocked. The Dymon Porous Pave technology retains those advantages, and adds these substantial improvements;
Substantially reduced cost – now similar to ordinary masonry pavers.- Greater range of available colors
- Substantially stronger – up to 11,000 PSI installed strength.
- Faster rate of manufacture.
- No noxious odours or emissions from manufacturing plants.
- Greatly reduced energy requirement.
- Can be poured in situ.
- Cost competitive with porous concrete, without the problems of clogging.
The Dymon Porous Pave products are identical to the original Permapave product range, except the products are stronger, longer lasting, more robust and can be manufactured at far less cost. Importantly this new Dymon technology advancement provides a unique poured in situ product range as an economical, practical and long lasting alternative to porous concrete and porous asphalt.
